Our Calgary clinic offers patients implant dentistry as part of our practice. Patients who wear dentures or who have one or more missing teeth sometimes look for different tooth alternatives. These individuals want a replacement option that feels more like a natural tooth or that firmly holds its position.
If you hold this desire, schedule an appointment with our dentist. Our dentists can assess if dental implants will be compatible with your mouth. Below, we've outlined the basic steps involved should you receive implant dentistry our Calgary clinic.
Implant dentistry offers patients a long-term solution for lost, absent, or damaged teeth. These implants also secure removable dentures in place. When patients choose dental implants, they can chew and speak normally and ensure that their jaw bone stays healthy.
After you schedule an appointment with your dentist, he or she examines your mouth, including teeth, gums, soft tissues, and jaw bones. This exam determines if you can receive dental implants in Calgary. If your dentist thinks your mouth will accommodate a dental implant, he or she will refer you to another dental office for the first part of the treatment.
Implant dentistry is a two part procedure: first,a titanium alloy implant that rests in the jaw bone and a natural-looking replacement tooth which attaches to the implant. A dentist places the titanium implant into the appropriate area first. This implant acts as a tooth roots, and needs several weeks to firmly attach to the jaw bone.
Once your implant has healed and attached securely to the jaw bone, you meet with your dentist for another appointment. At this visit, your dentist places the replacement tooth or denture on top of the implant to complete your smile.
